The ingredients needed to make Thai style sweet chilli sauce:
  1. Take 11-12 Birds Eye chilli/or any spicy local raw red chilli
  2. Make ready 6 small Garlic cloves
  3. Prepare 2-3 pinches Salt
  4. Prepare 1/2 cup Water
  5. Prepare 5 tbsps Sugar
  6. Take 2 tbsps lemon juice
  7. Prepare 1/2 tsp Kashmiri Lal mirch powder
  8. Make ready 1 pinch Orange food color powder or gel
  9. Make ready 1 tsp Cornflour
Steps to make Thai style sweet chilli sauce:
  1. Roughly grind the chillies, garlic along with a pinch of salt in a stone grinder/ mortar pestle,so that the seeds are intact.
  2. Now pour 1/2 cup water in a pan / kadai and add the Chilli paste, sugar,salt, Kashmiri Lal mirch powder, food color and boil it for 5 minutes. (Keep stirring frequently). Then add the lemon juice and cook for another 5 minutes or so, the liquid will reduce a bit.
  3. In the meanwhile, prepare the cornflour slurry with 1 tsp cornflour and 2 tbsps water. Add to the boiling sauce mixture and immediately stir so that no lumps form. Keep stirring till the sauce thickens to the desired consistency. It will take 2-3 minutes. Once it will cool and come to room temperature it will thicken more.
  4. Once done, pour it in a serving bowl and let it come to a room temperature before serving with your favourite appetisers and starters. For longer self life keep it in fridge. Bon appetit!!!!
