Make ready 3/4 cup whole urad dal
Prepare 1 tablespoon rajma or kidney beans
Take 1+1 tablespoon butter
Prepare 1 tablespoon ghee
Take 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
Make ready 7-8 crushed garlic cloves
Take 1 teaspoon grated ginger
Make ready 2-3 tomatoes Tomato puree

Prepare 1-2 tablespoons Kashmiri red chili powder or degi mirch
Get 1 tablespoon dhania jeera powder
Prepare 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
Take 1 teaspoon kasoori methi
Make ready 1/4 cup fresh cream or homemade malai
Steps to make Dal makhani:
Wash urad dal and rajma 2-3 times with water and soak for 6-8 hrs in enough water. Then cook in pressure cooker till 5 whistles. Then keep flame low and let it cook for another 7-10 minutes.
In a kadai heat butter and ghee. Add cumin seeds. When crackles add crushed garlic cloves and grated ginger. Saute for sometimes. Add tomato puree and saute till ghee seperates.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, dhania jeera powder, garam masala powder, salt and kasoori methi. Add 1-2 tablespoon water and mix all masalas well. Add cooked dal along with water and mix well.
Now add approximate 1and 1/2 cup water. Cover with lid and cook for about 20-25 minutes on low flame. Stir in between.
Add butter and fresh cream or homemade malai. Mix well. Cook again for 5-6 minutes. Delicious dal makhni is ready to serve. Garnish with coriander leaves, cream and butter. Serve with rice or Paratha.
