The ingredients needed to make Shrimp biryani:
  1. Prepare 1 1/4 cup Basmati rice (250 gms)
  2. Prepare 3/4 cup cleaned prawns

  12. Prepare 1 tbsp biryani masala/ garam masala
  13. Prepare 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  14. Take 1/4 cup thick curd, beaten
  15. Make ready 2 1/2 cup Water
  16. Prepare As per taste Salt
  17. Make ready 4 tbsp Oil
  18. Get Whole garam masala :
  19. Prepare 1inch Cinnamon stick
  20. Make ready 3 cloves
  21. Get 2 bay leaf
  22. Prepare 1 star anise
  23. Get 1/2 tsp shahi jeera
  24. Prepare 1/2 tsp saunf
Instructions to make Shrimp biryani:
  1. Devein and clean the prawns with turmeric powder. Wash and soak Basmati rice for 30 mins. Slice the onions, chop tomato and pudina, slit green chilies.
  2. In a pan heat oil. Add in whole garam masala and saute until aromatic. Add sliced onions, slit green chilies and fry till onions are translucent.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and fry until raw smell goes away. Add chopped tomato, coriander leaves and pudina leaves. Saute and cook until tomatoes soften.
  4. Add spice powders, salt and saute well. Add cleaned prawns and coat well with masala.
  5. Add beaten curd and mix well. Once it starts bubbling, add warm water and let it come to a boil.
  6. When the water is boiling add drained rice. Check for salt and cook until most water is absorbed. - Cover with a lid and put the pan on hot tawa and dum it on low flame for 8-10 mins. Let it rest for 10 mins before opening the lid.
  7. Gently fluff up the rice not to break the grains.
  8. Shrimps biryani is ready to be served hot with raita and salad.
