Get 2 cup split chickpeas or chana dal water
Get For making masala
Get 2 table spoon grated dry or fresh coconut
Get 5-6 garlic cloves
Get 2 small pieces of ginger

Make ready 2 table spoon kashmiri red chili powder
Take 1 table spoon turmeric powder
Take 1 table spoon Maharashtrian kala masala or garam masala

Get 1 tea spoon cumin seeds
Make ready As per taste Salt
Prepare 2-3 kokum or 2 table spoon lemon or tamarind juice
Instructions to make Katachi amti:
While cooking split chickpeas or chana dal for puran poli. Add extra water. After cooking dal, separate dal & water
Make masala. Take grated coconut, ginger, garlic, cloves, black pepper & cumin seeds. Grind all in blender.
Heat oil. When oil is heated add our masala. Saute it for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add curry leaves.
Add turmeric powder, kashmiri red chili powder & kala masala or garam masala
Mix all. Cook for 2 minutes.
Add puran in it for good sweet taste.
Add kokum & start to boil. Boil for 15 minutes. Serve with puran poli or rice. Or enjoy as a soup with ragi papad & kanda bhajiya.
