The ingredients needed to make Dal Palak:
Get Dal.
Make ready 1/4 cup Arhar dal,
Take 1/4 cup Chana dal,
Prepare 1/4 Cup red masoor dal,
Prepare 1/4 cup dhuli urad dal,
Take 1/2 tsp haldi powder,
Prepare 1/4 tsp hing,
Make ready to taste, Salt
Make ready 1 tbsp oil,
Get 1 bowl chopped palak leaves, blanched,
Make ready For Tadka
Get 3 tbsp desi ghee,
Take Pinch of hing,
Prepare 1/4 tsp Jeera,
Prepare 1 med sized onion chopped finely,
Get 1 tsp grated garlic,
Get 1/2 tsp grated ginger,
Make ready 2 green chili chopped finely,
Prepare 1 tomato roughly chopped,
Prepare 1/2 tsp red chilli powder,
Take 1/2 tsp garam masala powder,
Get 1 tbsp dahi,
Take For Tadka
Prepare 2 tbsp desi ghee,
Make ready 2 dry red chilli,
Take 1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder,
Steps to make Dal Palak:
Take a mixing bowl, add dal mix, wash it. Soak in water overnight, keep aside.
Take a pressure cooker, add dal, hing, salt, haldi powder & oil. Add 2 cup water, place the lid, give 5 whistles. Lower the flame, cook it for 2 minutes.
Switch off the flame, allow it to depressurise. Open the lid, give a stir. Take out in a bowl, keep aside.
Do not overcook dal, otherwise it will become mushy.
Take a deep bottom pan or wok, add ghee, heat it. Add hing & zeera, let it splutter.
Now add onion, stir fry it until light brown.
Add ginger garlic grated & green chilli, saute it until rawness is released.
Add tomato š & lil salt, give a stir. Lower the flame, cover it with the lid, cook it till tomato becomes mushy.
Open the lid, increase the flame, add red chilli powder & garam masala powder, give a stir.
Add dahi now, stir fry it for a minute.
Lower the flame, cover it again, cook it till oil has oozed out.
Open the lid, increase the flame, add cooked dal & palak, stir it for a minute. Give a boil.
Cook dal till it becomes a lil thick.
Switch off the flame, transfer dal in a serving bowl. Keep aside.
Take a tadka pan, add ghee, heat it. Add dry red chilli, saute it till brown. Switch off the flame, add Kashmiri red chilli powder, add in dal, do not stir.
Serve it as it is, have it with Roti or Paratha.
