  1. Take 1 cup arhar or toor dal or pigeon peas

  6. Take 3 tbsp sambhar powder
  7. Take 1 tsp turmeric powder

  11. Get 1 tsp mustard seeds
  12. Prepare 1 tsp cumin seeds
  13. Prepare Pinch asaefoetida
  14. Get 6-7 curry leaves
  15. Make ready as per taste Salt
  16. Prepare 3/4 cup tamarind pulp
Steps to make Sambhar rice:
  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, asaefoetida. Add onion, tomato, bottle gourd & drum sticks.
  2. Saute vegetables for 5 minutes. Add tamarind pulp & some water. Cook vegetables in it.
  3. Add turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, sambar powder, salt & cooked dal.
  4. Add water. Adjust consistency. Boil for 10 to 15 minutes. Garnish with coriander. Serve with rice & urad dal papad.
