Make ready 1 cup Whole Green Moong
Get 3 tbsp Oil
Take 1 bay leaf

Make ready 1 tbsp Oil
Get 1/2 tsp Jeera

Instructions to make Green Moong Dal:
Wash and soak green moong for 1-2 hours or overnight.
In a pressure cooker heat oil. Add in bay leaf, cumin seeds and let it splutter. Add in finely chopped onions and saute until translucent. Add in ginger garlic paste and saute until raw smell goes away.
Add in chopped tomato and saute until soft. Add in little salt, spice powder and saute. Add little water and cook until oil oozes out.
Add in drained green moong, 3 cups water, salt and pressure cook for 8 whistles if green moong is soaked for 2 hours. Reduce cooking time if soaked overnight. Wait till the pressure reduces, open the lid and check if moong is cooked and required consistency is reached. Add water if needed and check for salt and cook further if needed.
Prepare seasoning by heating oil, add in jeera, hing, saute. Add chili powder and switch off the flame. Add in chopped coriander leaves along with seasoning. Mix well and let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.
Serve Green Moong Dal with roti or steamed rice or jeera rice.
